From idea to reality... the thatched roof project
We recently revisited the thatched roof property in Swanland, East Yorkshire now all the finishing touches have been completed.
It’s always great to see your designs brought to life but this property is just something else – the finished result is outstanding! Here’s what the design looked like compared to the finished build – pretty close right?
The original aim for the project was to allow more light in to the dark, bits and pieces kitchen and to extend with the avoidance of the 'bolt on' look most additions make. Our design response was to break up the single storey addition from the house with the use of a glazed link between the existing house and the addition.
This worked well two fold, it softened the junction between the existing house and addition, along with allowing the newly planned kitchen to be flooded with light from the glazed link. That chequered floor and the new fittings look fantastic with all that light filling the room!
Our clients wanted a space where they could soak up the light and enjoy the view from within the house whilst reading a good book or simply doing nothing at all - so we added the ‘windowsill seat’ feature. Its elegance and simplicity really has made it an underrated yet key feature of the property.
The patio area certainly looks inviting; setting the scene for many happy occasions in the future we’re sure!
We couldn’t be happier with the end result and more importantly, neither could our clients! We’ll leave you with this final image, if you would like to discuss reshaping your property then please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
